Anthropic expanded its Claude Startups program on Oct. 6, 2026, rolling out a broader package called the Claude Startup Stack that combines direct Claude benefits with discounts and credits from third-party startup tools. The company said the program is designed to help founders build from the start, and it launched the expansion during its SF Tech Week event, according to TechCrunch.

What is Anthropic adding to Claude Startups?

Anthropic is giving eligible startups a free year of Claude Team for up to five premium seats, plus $1,000 in API credits to build with Claude. Anthropic said the API credit is available as soon as a startup is approved and is intended for wiring up the API, testing ideas and running early evaluations.

The company also said the expanded program can provide up to $45,000 in combined discounts and credits across startup tools, although that figure is based on the combined maximum value of all offers at partner list prices as of September 2026. Anthropic said the actual value depends on which offers a startup redeems, its plan and team size, and that companies may not be able to combine all offers.

Anthropic said the startup credit package is based on one year of Claude Team with five Premium seats billed annually plus the one-time API credit, and that the actual value varies depending on seat mix. In its own announcement, Anthropic said members can get up to $7,000 in Claude products and credits to build.

Which companies are included in the startup stack?

Anthropic said the Claude Startup Stack includes offers from Linear, Lovable, ElevenLabs, Granola and Hex, and described the stack as covering tools used across engineering, design, data management, sales and meetings. Anthropic’s startup program page says these benefits are offered by independent third-party companies rather than Anthropic itself.

The company also said the portal lists discounts, credits and other promotional offers supplied by independent third-party providers to validated program members. Members redeem Startup Stack offers in the Claude Console, according to Anthropic.

Anthropic said the expanded program also includes access to Claude Marketplace, where users can find connectors and plugins, and hands-on help building Marketplace submissions and sending them for review. TechCrunch reported that applicants apply through the Claude for Startups page and that the program includes access to Claude Marketplace, where companies can build plug-ins for Claude.

Who can apply, and what support do members get?

Anthropic says the program is open to bootstrapped, pre-seed and venture-backed startups, and that venture funding is not required. The company says startups founded within the last five years or funded within the last two years are eligible to apply.

Beyond credits and discounts, Anthropic said members can get office hours with its Applied AI team, along with events such as Founder House, hackathons and meetups, subject to space limits. The company also said members receive its Startup Newsletter with product and ecosystem news and a chance to be featured.

Anthropic’s legal addendum says the Applied AI team may provide guidance such as prompt engineering optimization and architecture review, but that Anthropic does not commit to any particular amount of support or engagement and may decline, modify or discontinue those advisory services at any time. The addendum also says additional benefits are available only to program members who remain in good standing and comply with applicable Anthropic terms.

How did Anthropic frame the program after launch?

Anthropic said Claude Startups first launched in May 2026 and that thousands of companies were already participating before this expansion. Startup lead Beth Robertson said startups are often the first to push Claude to its limits, underscoring why Anthropic is investing in the program.

The company’s FAQ says members who receive credits automatically get higher API rate limits, and that Claude Startups credits can only be used on Anthropic’s first-party API through Claude Console, not on Bedrock, Vertex AI or other third-party platforms. Anthropic also said accepted members get a link by email and in the portal to register for office hours, which are 45-minute live sessions held every other week.

Anthropic said it aims to review every startup application within one week, and that accepted members use a link by email and in the Claude Startups portal to register for office hours. The company also said existing members keep access to the Startup Stack, Applied AI office hours and events.

For founders, the expansion adds partner offers, Marketplace support, office hours and events alongside Claude Team access and API credits.
