Barcelona-based accounting startup Kabilio said it raised €10 million in a round led by Picus Capital and Visionaries, with participation from Spain’s CDTI. The company says the capital will help it roll out an AI accounting agent, widen automation across bookkeeping workflows and expand its shared platform for accounting firms and small businesses.
Kabilio, founded by Jose Ojeda and Álex Valls, has now raised €14 million since launch, according to Tech.eu. Finextra also reported the new financing, identifying Picus Capital and Visionaries as the lead investors and CDTI as a participant. The Next Web, via Ground News, separately reported the same €10 million transaction.
What does Kabilio’s platform do?
Kabilio’s software is built to help accounting firms and their small-business clients automate administrative and financial work without replacing the firms’ existing tools. According to Tech.eu, the platform uses AI to read invoices, suggest accounting entries, match bank transactions and prepare reconciliations, while flagging items that need professional review. The Paypers said the system works alongside firms’ current software so accountants can review and approve information rather than enter it manually.
The company also says its technology structures financial documents, transactions and accounting entries as data while recording firms’ rules and decisions to support more automation. Tech.eu attributed to Kabilio a claim that this reduces bookkeeping and reconciliation time by about 60 per cent. That figure is company-reported, not independently verified in the reporting.
How will the new AI agent work?
Kabilio is introducing an AI accounting agent that can retrieve invoices, reconcile transactions, validate entries and request missing documents through email and WhatsApp, according to Tech.eu. The Paypers added that the agent starts with internal workflows at accounting firms and can retrieve invoices and statements from client emails, reconcile transactions, validate entries and follow up on missing paperwork.
Accountants can assign tasks in plain language and decide how much autonomy the agent has, both Tech.eu and The Paypers reported. The Paypers said Kabilio works only through accounting firms, which choose which clients join the platform and what the agent is allowed to do for them. That setup means the product is not a direct-to-small-business automation tool yet; the firm remains the control point for access and permissions.
Tech.eu said several firms were already piloting the AI agent technology. The Paypers also reported that Kabilio expects to work with more than 500 accounting firms by the end of 2026, up from nearly 500 at the time of reporting.
Who is already using Kabilio?
Kabilio said it currently works with nearly 500 accounting firms, up from 100 a year earlier, according to Tech.eu. The company’s customers include Adlanter, Solfico and Gemap, with Solfico and Gemap belonging to the iusTime group.
The company also launched Kabilio Empresas in September 2026, according to The Paypers. Tech.eu reported that the product lets small businesses issue invoices, connect bank accounts and monitor cash flow while sharing financial data with their accounting firms in real time. Fiscalidad Inteligente and Alemany Assessors were already using Kabilio Empresas to manage a large part of their client portfolios, Tech.eu reported.
Co-founder and co-CEO Álex Valls told Tech.eu that Kabilio is bringing firms’ clients onto the same platform so the firm has invoice and payment data as it happens and the agent can act on it. In a later phase, the company plans to extend the agent to small-business clients so they can issue invoices, follow up on overdue payments, request missing receipts and answer routine accounting and tax questions.
What does the funding mean for Kabilio next?
The €10 million round gives Kabilio more room to expand its AI accounting agent, automate more workflows and grow the shared platform it uses with firms and small businesses. The company already has 80 employees, more than half of them in product and engineering, according to Tech.eu.
Picus Capital and Visionaries also led Kabilio’s pre-seed round, which was reported to have been €4 million roughly a year earlier. That repeat backing suggests the investors are staying close to the company as it moves from initial product rollout toward broader deployment.
For now, Kabilio’s go-to-market remains accounting-firm-led. The company’s next step is to deepen adoption among firms already piloting the AI agent while expanding Kabilio Empresas and, later, giving business clients more direct access to automated accounting workflows.
